I’m a resident of 2 Secord. Is there an external party I can complain to re: property manager and primary supers?
The property manager never returns calls or emails. The primary supers just don’t care about much.
Sorry to hear about the problems with your property management staff.
Making phone calls and sending emails might not be an effective way to notify your superintendent/landlord of building problems. You need to send a complaint letter clearly outlining the problems. You need to include the various dates and times you notified them of the problem in a bullet point format, not large paragraphs. Also tenants who send their complaint letter by ‘registered mail’ usually received a quick response from the superintendent/landlord. A registered letter is associated with those who have obtained legal advice.
Finally, it is recommended that you contact the Federation of Metro Tenants Association (FMTA) for advice at their Tenant Hotline: 416-921-9494
The Hotline operates from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. After-hours callers can leave a detailed message, which will be responded to on the next business day.

Hi everyone,
Just so you are all aware, there were 3 break-ins (on the 5th, 7th and 10th floors) and 1 break-in attempt (on the 9th floor) yesterday at 165 Barrington. The break-ins occurred during the business day when the tenants were at work. This is very shocking considering since we have a security guard on-patrol as well as security cameras. What happened to ensuring safety and security? Was the security guard asleep? Did he perform his rounds?
Apparently, the criminal(s) stole items to make quick sales. Items stolen included personal items such as jewelry, heirlooms, laptop computers, digital cameras, cellular phones, etc.
I find it hard to believe that no one noticed anything out-of-the ordinary on the affected floors. I am hoping that this post will accomplish the following 2 things:
1 – get the tenants to come forward and bring up any suspicious behaviour and/or observations from yesterday.
2 – get the management of 165 Barrington to take safety and security issues a lot more seriously!!!
Let’s work together to make these things happen!
