390 Dawes Road - Cold lodgings
The tenants of 390 Dawes Road (a METCAP managed building) are without adequate heating for yet another winter.
Our sources tell us that the radiators give off faint warmth but nothing that would produce the “minimum air temperature of 21 degrees Celsius is maintained in all areas of the dwelling unit from the 15th day of September in each year to the 1st day of June in the following year” required by the City’s bylaw on apartment temperature.
Tenants have been complaining about the lack of heating to the City’s Municipal Licensing and Standards and Health departments but so far have not seen the situation get better.
Just not good enough.

it is currently 2018 the building is now owned by Briar lane property management inc. their have been no improvements since this article came out.
390 Dawes is the most bed bug infested building in the city. Simply stay away from the building. The management tries to lure in potential tenants with renovations but don’t fall for it. If you move in to this building,it would be the worst decision of you life. No exaggerations.
390 Dawes rd is still a pig hole ..Still bedbugs and heavy roach infestation..Anka in the office does not or chooses not to understand anything you try and tell or ask her,she is rude , arrogant and down right nasty !The new units are beautiful but they refuse to do anything to improve the tenants already living in the building , my unit is disgusting and they don`t care. Cupboards falling on our heads , old dirty stoves and fridges , gross parkay flooring, bathtub tiles falling down and awful smells in the hallways . when I moved in here I was shown a different unit than i looked at when renting , I was told a mistake was done and the unit I looked at was already rented..The roach infestation is just plain disgusting and we have been sprayed 8 times in 3 months..Never in my life had bed bugs but just had to throw out all beds etc not to metion the bites all over us! Maybe we should all get together and all hold our rents until this pig sty is cleaned up and we are treated like human beings!!!Calling the main office is a joke , they are as rude as Anka to tenents and just hang up on you , but god forbid rent is not on time as hey will have your butt in court before you can even turn around!!Why should we have to live in this kind of conditions?
Its is now 2012, and nothing has changed, when first seeing this place the newly renovated units are beautiful, we went through with the application process which was incredibly difficult with the new management, the woman is very hard at English and does not understand at all but will pretend that she does understand. We were not aware of the problems with the building, but now we are, the place is infested with bed bugs and cockroaches. The woman, Anca told us that yes problems were reported, but this is an infestation, not just a mere problem that can be solved by hiring some non-professional to go around the units and use department store brand insecticides from canadain tire. Which is exactly what she did, and from what we have learned from other tenants, it is all she does to take care of the problem. I am currently livid about our situation, we thought we were going to live some where nice but we are now in a complete hell hole, I hope to leave this before Christmas, please Santa, just set the building on fire…it is that bad!
I,sadly,live at 390 Dawes rd.Not much has changed since feb2009.I have been here a little over 2 yrs.When I first moved in,there were no roaches,and no bedbugs,but that has changed ,sadly,for me,for the worse. I now have been sprayed,for both,5-6 times in the last 2 months,and have NEVER had bedbugs before,having lived in toronto my whole life. It is true,the heating in this building is a joke,I had to use 3 heaters last winter,and put many blankets on windows to keep out drafts,and there have been many “Managers” who dont seem to know how to do their job,or dont care. It seems they pass the buck to someone else.I dont understand why goverement agency’s are not doing more about this very run down building. I have talked to acorn,but they dont seem to get much done either. It is a big rip off of money to live in this building.
390 Dawes road is a bad biulding to live in and should be avoided at all cost for the following reasons:
I) 390 Dawes Road is infested with bed bugs and cockroaches, and they do NOTHING to rectify the problem
II) The biuldings heating is darlict and does not heat the units to 21 degrees celceus (me and my friend have to use the oven to heat our unit)
III) The proprety manager Maria Mertiri is exreamly rude and every time anyone comes to her with a complaint she disregards it (shes also a cop caller and waste the cop’s time and there stupid enugh to fall for her shit)
IV) The biulding door is NOT secure and its encredably easy to break in
V) The fire alarm goes off and they do nothing to prevent this (or if they do there not too efective at it because last time if sounded off it took an hour for it to be turned off) and,
VI) people come and go here (390 Dawes Road for all the retards out there who need every deytail explained to them) and theyve gone thrugh 10 suppers in the last two years.
So I consider you to sereusly consider you to carfully read this comment and ask yerself if your a tenant of 390 Dawes road “should I do the same and emulate Patrick M’s actions” or someone from inspection “should we take Patrick M’s comment sereusly. Think about it.
